‘Making Room’

It’s a half-joke that we’re starting a commune. The joke is heavy on commune and serious notes fall on the “starting,” meaning we’re not forming a commune as much as we’re actively praying for and taking steps toward community that aims for hospitality, and making it a way of life.

So isn’t this excerpt beautiful, from “Making Room,” by Christine Pohl:

(It reminds me of the hospitality practiced by the Schaeffers, as mentioned by Susan Schaeffer Macaulay in “For the Children’s Sake.” Coincidentally, the Schaeffers’ community is part of Pohl’s research.)
